It’s easy to assume many things about dog owners based on how they treat their dogs. For example, an owner who refuses to get surgery for their injured dog will be seen as abusive or selfish. However, this story proves that sometimes owners have a valid reason for doing this.
The dog in this story, Kamsun, lives with an elderly man. This dog has one broken leg, so his movements are very awkward. He rarely goes out because of his condition.
The grandpa who owns Kamsun might seem like he doesn’t care. In reality, he simply cannot afford to get Kamsun treated. All of the veterinarians he went to had suggested amputation as a solution. This is something he disagrees with because he believes that Kamsun’s leg can still be fixed.
A Korean television network found out about Kamsun’s situation and offered some help. The network shouldered the cost of Kamsun’s medical treatment. They also respected the wish of the owner to find another solution for the dog’s broken leg.
Kamsun’s broken leg is twisted in a direction that will never allow it to regain function. Furthermore, even if surgery was done to reconstruct the broken leg, there’s a low chance of it working again due to the dog’s age. The best that a vet could do is realign the broken leg and wrap it.
Kamsun’s treatment went well, but the help he received didn’t end there. The television network also bought a new place for the grandpa and a doghouse for Kamsun. Up until that time, their living condition wasn’t so great.
Grandpa was surprised and extremely grateful for the gifts he received. Their neighbors were also happy to see that the elderly man had a better living space. Most importantly, Kamsun can rest well on a comfy couch while recovering from treatment.
