Doge, a humorous misspelling of dog, was initially associated with Shiba Inu photos with colored captions meant to be the dog’s internal monologue. The Cheems memes evolved from the various doge characters, featuring a fluffy Shiba Inu’s humorous commentary that included extra M letters to his spelling.
Most people have already encountered a mischievous Shiba Inu dog’s photo on various social media platforms, which spurred the viral Cheems meme. Known for loving cheeseburgers (better known as ‘cheemsburger’), this dog’s knowing smirk quickly became one of the most popular memes that circulated the internet, classifying it as an ‘Ironic Doge’ character.
This famous dog was named Balltze, a humble pup who lived in Kowloon, Hong Kong, with his owner Kathy. A quirky and well-timed photo of this pooch was uploaded on Instagram back in 2017, which was all it took for this good boy to make his mark in the world of memes.
Balltze was adopted when he was just a year old. One of Kathy’s friends planned to leave Hong Kong and wanted to ensure that his puppy was adopted and cared for. This lovable dog was very playful and naughty, but he endeared himself to Kathy and her entire family.
As Balltze grew older, he gradually became well-behaved and friendly, although he got a bit testy when they went out for walks. His owner loved snapping photos of him, which led to his iconic photo. What she thought was a normal cute picture of her beloved dog turned into a meme sensation worldwide.
Kathy was amazed at how ridiculously well-known Balltze and his Cheems memes became in the online community. Her family and friends updated her regularly whenever a new Cheems meme would pop up.
Nowadays, 9-year-old Balltze usually spent most of his time sleeping or hanging out with Kathy’s mom. Despite his celebrity status, this good boy still loves the simple joys in life.
