It’s truly heartbreaking to realize that although dogs are coined as man’s best friend, they’re also one of the most common victims of abuse and neglect. In the United States alone, an estimated of around 10 million animals are abused to death annually.
Thousands of dogs are living as strays. Many of them are sick and injured because no one takes care of them or were victims of animal abuse and neglect. In Bali, Indonesia, stray dogs are rampant and there are not enough animal shelters to take care of them.
A dog named Michi was found in the streets of Bali. rescuers from a local animal rescue organization called MissionĀ Paws’ible were shocked after they thoroughly assessed her. Aside from being sick with parvovirus, she also had a badly infected wound on her head. Michi had a hole in her head which was full of maggots.
Michi’s rescuers didn’t know if her injuries were caused by a person or if it was a result of fighting with another dog. Regardless of the cause, they knew that she desperately needed help.
The rescuers prioritized getting Michi the treatment she needed. She was fostered by one of the volunteers at the organization to give her a safe place to heal and also help her learn to trust humans again.
Michi’s dirty and matted fur was shaved and her injuries were treated. Thankfully, she still had a fully functioning immune system, which was able to fight off the parvovirus. With the utmost care from her foster family, Michi started to recover and turned into a beautiful dog.
Mission Paws’ible also found a new mom for Michi named Saffron who drove almost 2 hours just to meet her. Now, Michi has a loving forever home and even a doggie brother named Garscon who’s also a rescue dog. Here’s a video link below the screenshots featuring Michi’s heartwarming story and how Mission Paws’ible saved her life and gave her a second chance at a happy life.
