Everyone knows that dogs and cats don’t get along very well. It is in their nature to dislike each other. But it doesn’t mean that there is no hope of them becoming buddies. It might be an uphill battle, but it’s not impossible, and we’ve seen thousands of families who have cats and dogs living under one roof.
Apparently, another scenario where these two fur babies can get along is when one of them needs help. We all know how doggos like saving those in trouble, and when this happens, it wouldn’t matter to them if they are rescuing a human or a cat. Especially if they are explicitly trained to do rescues.
In Izmir, Turkey, a police dog named Bob became famous on the internet after he saved a cat from the rubble. A 7.0 magnitude earthquake devastated the western region of Turkey, leveling homes and buildings during its wake. The local police departments and rescue organizations worked around the clock to save those that were trapped.
Of course, the rescue teams also targetted the trapped animals. Around 30 hours after the earthquake hit the city, Bob found a cat named “Umut.” Once the pooch found the kitty, he let the search party know that he found someone. Umut was stuck under the debris of a two-storey building where her home used to be.
The rescuers slowly pulled her out and checked on her health. We can clearly see in the clip below that she was shaking in fear, but we’re pretty sure she’s glad it’s all over. Luckily, Umut only suffered minor injuries. Her owner was so thankful that her fur baby was safe and sound.
She even petted Bob to show her appreciation of his rescue efforts. If it weren’t for this talented doggo, this story would’ve had a much sadder ending. What’s heartwarming about this doggo story is the fact that Bob seemed to like Umut. It appears that he had found a new friend in her.
