In life, we go through rough patches. Take, for example, people who meet accidents. Some survive unscathed, while others are left scarred for life. One of those who suffered the toll of the accident is Cody. Just after graduating from high school, Cody met an accident and broke his neck.
Life after the accident was difficult for Cody. Because of what happened, he suffered paralysis – and had to use a wheelchair. He also has limited arm use. Slowly he began adjusting with the help of his service dog Wrigley. The said animal helped him through his daily routine. Everyone loved the dog, including all of Cody’s office mates.
But another tragedy struck the young man. Just recently, Wrigley passed away. This left him devastated. Not only did he lost a great service dog, but he also lost a great friend. Cody felt sad about losing his dear friend – but he had to move forward.
Cody now has to adjust to life without Wrigley. Getting a new service dog is quite expensive, and Cody thought he could not cover the fees to get a new one. His officemates saw how the absence of a service dog impacted Cody’s life. So they found a way to help him.
One typical day at the office, Cody was called by their manager for a “business meeting.” Cody entered the conference room, thinking it was just a regular meeting at work. Then the huge surprise came – all his office mates came together and contributed funds for Cody’s new service dog. The plan left Cody in awe and tears.
His co-workers presented him a check worth $18,000 – enough to get him a Golden Retriever service dog named Mack. Cody couldn’t thank his colleagues enough for their display of compassion and kindness. Mack, his new service dog, is perfect. Now Cody wouldn’t face his daily battles alone – he knows he has Mack and his kind office mates to back him up.
