Doggy Wedding For Therapy Dogs

Doggy Wedding For Therapy Dogs

Ben Bowling November 17, 2019

What is the likelihood that you’d ever attend a doggy wedding ceremony?

One occurred recently when two therapy dogs, named Duke and Peaches work at the Methodist Mansfield’s Physical Medicine Department in Texas. Their partnership was made official when they tied the knot. A ceremony was officiated by Caesar Rentie, the Vice President of Pastoral Services of the Methodist Health System. The celebration was held at the medical facility.

The two Golden Retrievers, Duke, and Peaches work together to provide comfort to patients undergoing physical therapy.

They ease the nerves of patients undergoing treatment. During their free time, they are commonly seen cuddling with each other and trading kisses. Starbucks, located inside the facility, regularly donates the puppuccinos they share.

With their evident love for each other, the staff of Methodist Manfield knew that they had to have a doggy wedding ceremony.

No expenses were spared. Duke looked dashing in his tuxedo. Peaches was as lovely as ever in a beautiful wedding dress, accentuated by a pink flower on her chest. The hospital walkway was draped with a white runway covered with rose petals.

They were also issued a Doggy wedding certificate!

Most of the staff and workers of Methodist Mansfield joined the ceremony and saw the union of the two most beloved members of the staff. They even provided a canine wedding cake, which the two happily devoured after their wedding. Almost immediately after the reception, the dogs went back to work comforting the patients.

Videos and pictures of the ceremony have spread like wildfire over various multimedia channels. Their story went viral in social media, and news agencies have picked up on the story. The couple is registered at Pet Partners, an organization that promotes health and wellness through animal-assisted therapy. They hope that the exposure and broad interest will inspire the presence of more dogs like Duke and Peaches in hospitals.
