Studies prove that those who intentionally abuse animals are under 30 years, and reported cases usually involve livestock, horses, cats, and most commonly, dogs. As a result, millions of abusers around the world get arrested each year for animal cruelty. However, we need to keep in mind that not all abusers get reported for animal cruelty. A lot of them continue to walk the earth and get a free pass for their abusive behaviors.
On one fateful day in Lithuania, Audra Petraškienė drove along the riverside and saw a wet and shivering dog in the distance. It appears the dog, named Toriuk, fell into the river, but Audra didn’t know what’s about to come. Curious as to what’s happening, she approached the little dog, and there she realized something dreadful. Toriuk had a 13-pound anchor into tied its neck as if the culprit expected him to drown in that river!
Audra wasted no second and rushed to the poor dog’s aid. It seems the culprit intends to let the dog drown by tying an anchor to its neck after being thrown in the river. Toriuk miraculously survived this ordeal and got to safety where his rescuer found him. She brought the lucky dog to the vet to get treatment immediately.
Audra reported this horrific scene to the police. After a thorough investigation, they found Toriuk’s owner, who revealed that his dog went missing recently, and their suspect was his neighbor who works with metal with the same quality of the one around Toriuk’s neck.
The neighbor is now under police custody and undergoing trial. Whatever happens, we hope the real culprit gets a sentence he deserves for what he did to Toriuk.
As for our lucky and brave dog, Toriuk, he recovered from the incident and now back to his loving owner’s arms.

Toriuk’s story should be an inspiration to all of us to be vigilant about what’s happening around us. Once you suspect a neighbor committing animal cruelty, don’t hesitate to call the police immediately.
