Pet adoptions have been on the rise since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. While this might sound like good news, it has been quite the challenge to match possible adopters to rescue animals because of the ongoing lockdowns. That is where the dog food brand Pedigree comes into play.
Just recently, Pedigree, together with its charitable foundation, Pedigree Foundation, came up with an ingenious idea of doing an online adoption program. This is in a bid to help interested individuals adopt a dog without leaving the comforts of their home, making sure both humans and animals are safe from the deadly virus.
However, unlike most online adoptions where adopters only see the dogs’ photos and descriptions, Pedigree’s “Dogs on Zoom” provides a virtual meet up with all the available pups. Adopters simply go to the website, meetyournewdog.com, and join one of the Zoom meetings there to meet all the dogs up that are for grabs.
Upon joining the meeting, adopters will see a screen where all the dogs are shown live. A host will then welcome the joiners and introduce to them the featured dogs for the day, giving a brief description of each as they go along. Everyone can ask questions live about the pup, and the adoption process will also be discussed at the end.
Currently, Pedigree has already begun the campaign with a series of Zoom meetings in Nashville. The charity is also partnering up with various animal shelters across the United States and will be providing the equipment costs and Zoom membership fees for all the participating shelters.
Meanwhile, adopters who will find a matching pooch through Dogs on Zoom can count on Pedigree to cover their adoption fees, too. The virtual adoption events will run from May to June and typically start at 5:00 PM CST. Here is one of the recent Zoom meetings held in Nashville.
