Green symbolizes a lot of things. Some see it as a sickly color, while others see it as a symbol of luck.
Green, being a newborn pup’s color, is quite odd. This color is usually seen in imaginary characters like those in cartoon movies. But Pistachio, a green-coated Labrador retriever puppy, is a real pup born in real times.
In a little of white pups, Pistachio was noticeably different from his green fur. Luckily Pistachio’s dad, Cristian, heard of this rare case called the green puppy phenomenon. This knowledge truly saved the family from panic.
To think of a green puppy born in a white mixed breed dog seems impossible. But Pistachio is real as can be. Among a litter of five, he was the most unique.
There were stories about dogs like Pistachio. They all went viral because of their unusual color.
According to experts, this phenomenon is very rare. The green hue of the puppies’ fur is caused by a pigment inside the mother dog’s womb called the biliverdin. So when the unborn pup gets into contact with this pigment, it turns their coat green.
Pistachio’s family lives on a farm together with eight more dogs. All of his siblings already have a family that they will be happily living with soon. For Pistachio, his future seems to be more interesting.
Cristian has learned to love Pistachio even more. So he decided to keep the pup with him on the farm. There, he will learn to look after the sheep, just like her mom.
Pistachio’s coat color will not remain green for the rest of his life. His tint will soon fade over time. In fact, it’s noticeably lighter within a few days after his birth. He will one day probably look the same as his siblings.
No matter his color, Pistachio will remain his human dad’s treasure. He will always be special to his eyes.
